However this all changed when I was invited to go on what I thought to be one of those waste of time active holidays however when I received the invite I had a bit of holiday left over and thought screw it I will just go. After booking it I was then told the news that it wasn’t just an active holiday but one of those walking holidays.

Walking for a week was not something I was over the moon about but still I got on with it and gave it a go. From the first day my opinion on these holidays changed for the better. One of the brilliant things about this trip was the fact i could get out of the city environment and into the wild. It is so amazing to sit and watch wildlife as it carries on with its everyday behaviour.

We had no troubles at all with our suitcases or anything like that as we were walking from one inn to the next everyday with our main cases always one step ahead of us, being dropped off at the next stop. We only really needed the the things for the day which was really brilliant. So for example a good warm jacket, I took a couple of my ski jackets which I picked up on a ski holiday last year, also my warm ski pants and ski gloves were really useful. I also had no trouble organising a fridge for my Diabetic gear which was a great relief to me as it is something I am always worrying about when I go away.

We actually went on a New Zealand holiday but there are so many other active and walking holidays out there to choose from, it changed the way I thought about the world and it may be worth going on one yourself. It was a little cold the time of year we went but the sceneery was unbeatable!
